NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday has become a global diplomatic event, with an outpouring of well-wishes from heads of state and other dignitaries around the world. The messages underscore India’s growing geopolitical influence and the strong personal rapport PM Modi has cultivated with key international figures.

Among the prominent well-wishers was Russian President Vladimir Putin, who praised PM Modi’s “great personal contribution to strengthening the partnership between India and Russia.” In a message published on the Kremlin’s website, Putin said, “You are making a great personal contribution to strengthening the special privileged strategic partnership between our countries, to developing mutually beneficial Russian-Indian cooperation in various areas.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also extended heartfelt greetings, referring to PM Modi as his “good friend Narendra.” Netanyahu praised the Prime Minister’s achievements for India and expressed his desire to further strengthen the partnership between their two nations. “You’ve accomplished so much for India in your life, and we have together accomplished a great deal in the friendship between India and Israel,” Netanyahu said in a video message.

In a notable move, U.S. President Donald Trump also wished PM Modi a happy birthday and, according to a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, thanked him for his “support on ending the War between Russia and Ukraine.” The gesture is being widely viewed as part of Washington’s effort to reset ties with New Delhi following months of strained relations over trade tariffs.

Former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, in a message, called PM Modi a “good friend” to both himself and Britain. He recalled his fond memories of attending the G20 Summit in India in 2023, calling it a “superb event befitting India’s standing on the world stage.”

Other leaders who extended wishes included Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Their messages collectively highlight PM Modi as a “statesman and leading voice of the Global South” and underscore his role in guiding India toward its goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
