JEDDAH, Saudi Arabia —Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, today accused Israel of committing “the most horrific forms of oppression and genocide” against the Palestinian people in Gaza. Speaking at the 21st extraordinary session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), he called Israel’s ongoing actions an unprecedented violation of international law.

Prince Faisal stressed that the international community’s “silence regarding these crimes exacerbates the tragedy” and undermines any hope for peace. According to reports, He urged global leaders to act swiftly to stop “the crimes of the occupation” and prevent Israel from pursuing its aggressive policies, which he said include attempts to occupy Gaza City and impose settlement projects.

Reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s long-held position on the conflict, Prince Faisal stated that the two-state solution is the “just and only option” to achieve regional stability. He reiterated the Kingdom’s full support for a sovereign and independent Palestinian state based on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The minister also called for the immediate and unhindered delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and for international support for the Palestinian Authority. He noted that a growing number of countries are recognizing the State of Palestine, reflecting a “growing international conviction in the justice of the cause.”
