SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today informed that the construction of the Storm Water Drainage Scheme at Tawheedabad Humhama, Srinagar is progressing at a steady as well as accelerated pace, in line with the longstanding need to address significant drainage issues faced by residents in previous years.
In an official statement issued here, SMC authorities have rebutted the news report published in the local English daily on 12th August, 2025 regarding the construction of the Storm Water Drainage Scheme at Tawheedabad, Humhama, Srinagar, terming the news item baseless, and holding no merits.
“As on date, approximately 80% of the drainage works within the concerned colonies have been completed thus constituting a major portion of the overall project. Additionally, the construction and installation of the wet well sump and screen chamber have been successfully completed,” read the statement.
Furthermore, the road macadamisation plan for the said colony has been formally approved, and upon execution, it will significantly enhance road conditions and overall accessibility in the area.
Meanwhile, SMC has assured the public that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the timely completion of the project.
