One Dead, 6 Pilgrims Injured in Landslide at Vaishno Devi Yatra Track Near Ban Ganga

Jammu, July 21 (JKNS): One pilgrim lost his life while six others were injured in a landslide that struck near the Banganga area close to the Gulshan Langar on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route on Monday morning.

A top police officer told news agency JKNS that the incident triggered a temporary halt in the pilgrimage, which later resumed via an alternate route.

Seven pilgrims were injured, while one later succumbed to injuries, a senior police officer said.

Three elderly pilgrims Rajinder Bhalla (70) from Haryana, Uppan (70) and K. Radha (66) from Yamuna Nagar, Chennai were referred to Narayana Hospital for specialized treatment. One woman, Leela Bhai (56) from Uttar Pradesh, was admitted for further care.

Among seven four of the injured were reffered to Narayana hospital, official said adding that three others were treated and discharged.

Authorities have assured continuous monitoring and urged pilgrims to adhere to safety advisories as the yatra continues on an alternate route. (JKNS)
