Addressing the convocation ceremony of Ravenshaw University, the President remarked that this

is an era of science and technology, and it is essential to remain vigilant about the misuse of these advanced tools.

Highlighting the historical significance of Ravenshaw College, she said it played a pivotal role during the freedom struggle and was closely linked to the movement for the formation of the state of Odisha.

The institution, she added, has consistently contributed to the advancement of education and women’s empowerment.

President Murmu noted that many illustrious alumni of Ravenshaw have brought pride to the nation as freedom fighters, educationists, writers, philosophers, political leaders, social reformers, scientists, and artists.

She expressed happiness over the university’s achievements in research, innovation, and inclusivity.

The President acknowledged its collaborative efforts with industry partners through consultancy services and technology transfers.

She lauded the role of the university’s ‘Centre of Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship’ in promoting ideation, translational research, and entrepreneurial development.

The President also appreciated Ravenshaw’s focus on increasing student enrollment from tribal areas, underprivileged communities, and persons with disabilities (divyangjan).

Urging students to draw inspiration from individuals serving the nation—such as soldiers, farmers, scientists, engineers, and doctors—she encouraged them to contribute to India’s development with knowledge, skill, and dedication.

President Murmu later laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of three buildings of Ravenshaw Girls’ High School in Cuttack.

Speaking at the event, she said that quality teaching and good infrastructure create an effective learning environment.

She expressed confidence that the redevelopment project would significantly enhance the school’s facilities and commended both the Central and State governments for their focus on girls’ education.

During her remarks, she also observed that in numerous convocation ceremonies across the country, girls consistently perform better when provided with equal opportunities.

She praised the growing contribution of women in diverse fields—including education, science, literature, industry, and commerce—and encouraged girl students to take inspiration from the

women who are setting new benchmarks of success.

The President concluded by saying that with knowledge, self-confidence, skill, and determination, young women can achieve even the seemingly impossible.
