Srinagar, 14 Jul 2025 :  In a commendable step towards empowering the women of Uri, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the REACHA Foundation, has inaugurated a bakery unit along with embroidery and stitching classes for local women. The initiative aims to provide vocational training and promote self-reliance among women in the border region, enhancing both economic independence and community participation. The newly established centre will serve as a platform for local women to learn employable skills, gain confidence, and contribute meaningfully to their households and the local economy.
The inauguration ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from senior government officials, representatives of the Indian Army, members of the REACHA Foundation, and a large gathering of local residents. This joint effort reflects the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to civil-military cooperation and grassroots development in remote areas. The REACHA Foundation, known for its impactful social initiatives, has brought in technical expertise and resources to make this vision a reality. The collaborative endeavour marks a significant milestone in fostering inclusive growth and creating long-term livelihood opportunities for the women of Uri.
