Abdul Qayoom Shah HOD Botany Legal Literacy Club Khan Sahib Budgam, Dr. Khan Muneer Aslam, Teacher incharge and Mehraj-ud-din Shah PLV DLSA Budgam were the resource persons. They emphasized the importance of the initiative and discussed the grave impact of female foeticide and also apprised the students regarding various provisions of POCSO Act, providing valuable information on child sexual abuse and students’ rights to report such incidents, ensuring they are aware of the legal protections available.

They said that the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act is a comprehensive piece of legislation in India enacted in 2012 to protect children from sexual assault, sexual harassment, and pornography. It aims to provide a safe environment for children and punish offenders, while also offering support and rehabilitation for victims. The Act was amended in 2019 to make punishments more stringent.

The initiative aimed to empower students with crucial knowledge and encourage them to become proactive in promoting gender equality and safeguarding children from harm.

The session saw active participation from the school principal, In-charge teacher of the Legal Literacy Club, staff members of Government Girls Higher Secondary School Khan Sahib, and para-legal volunteers from DLSA Budgam
