NEW DELHI – Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh today announced that the recent success of Operation Sindoor has significantly increased global demand for India’s homegrown defence products. Speaking at the Defence Accounts Department (DAD) conference, Singh praised the operation for showcasing the prowess of Indian-made equipment.

He urged the DAD to evolve from a “controller” to a “facilitator” to support the growing private sector involvement in defence. Singh emphasized that defence spending should be viewed as an economic investment with a multiplier impact, driving national growth.

Highlighting India’s push towards Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence, he noted that most previously imported equipment is now made in India. Singh stressed the need for swift decisions to manufacture larger defence engines domestically and warned that “peace time is nothing but an illusion,” urging constant preparedness.

The minister also lauded digital initiatives like the SPARSH platform for pensioners and the use of Government e-Marketplace (GeM) for transparent procurement. The conference also saw the release of new vision documents for the DAD.
