Srinagar: In a significant gesture of solidarity and communal harmony, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers joined mourners at Jahangir Chowk, Srinagar, where he participated in the Sabeel-e-Imam Hussain (AS) initiative a traditional Muharram service involving the distribution of water and refreshments to mourners and passersby.
This heartfelt outreach program was organized as a mark of respect to the supreme sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and the martyrs of Karbala. The Union Minister personally distributed water and refreshments among the devotees and highlighted the timeless message of peace, sacrifice, and justice exemplified by Imam Hussain (AS).
Senior BJP Leader and DDC Member Er Aijaz Hussain, along with District President BJP Srinagar Shri Sheikh Salman, warmly welcomed Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan at the venue. They briefed the Hon’ble Minister about the deep-rooted tradition of setting up sabeels during the month of Muharram across Kashmir and the significance it holds for the Shia community.
The presence of a Union Minister at such a spiritually important community service event in the heart of Srinagar underscores the BJP’s commitment to inclusive outreach and its respect for cultural and religious practices of all communities in Jammu & Kashmir.
