ACB Nabs Patwari Red-Handed While Taking ₹10,000 Bribe in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 31 (JKNS): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday arrested Patwari Halqa Dooru, Gulzar Ahmad Ganie, red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹10,000 in Anantnag district.

An official of ACB told news agency JKNS, “We received a complaint that the Patwari was demanding ₹10,000 for granting permission to cut a branch of a Chinar tree.

Acting swiftly, a trap was laid today and the accused Patwari was caught red-handed outside his office while accepting the bribe amount, ” official said.

ACB official said the trap was laid in a well-coordinated manner by the officers and officials of ACB South Circle. The accused was arrested on the spot with marked currency notes and taken into custody.

The bureau has registered an FIR under number 1/2025 at Police Station ACB Anantnag and further investigation has been initiated.

“ACB reiterates its firm commitment to rooting out corruption and urges people to come forward and report such cases without any fear,” the official added. (JKNS)
