Girls mark enthusiastic participation in inter-zonal & zonal level sports competitions in B’la

BARAMULLA: Youth Services and Sports, Baramulla, continued its inter-zonal district level Badminton and Table Tennis competitions alongside inter-school zonal level tournaments today, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young girls across the district.

The third day of the inter-zonal event featured Under-14 and Under-17 girls’ Table Tennis matches at Indoor Stadium Khawaja Bagh, where 35 students participated in U-14 and 40 in U-17 categories.

Simultaneously, the Badminton competition reached its third day at the Bipin Rawat Indoor Stadium, also recording 35 U-14 and 40 U-17 girl participants, showcasing growing interest and talent in indoor sports among girls.

Adding to the momentum, YSS zone Pattan organized an inter-school zonal level Kho-Kho competition for U-14 and U-17 girls at BMS Tapper, with an impressive 223 participants from various government and private schools. Likewise, YSS zone Uri hosted Volleyball and Kho-Kho competitions for U-14 girls, drawing 96 participants in Kho-Kho and 60 in Volleyball, underlining the expanding reach of grassroots sports programs in remote zones.

These competitions are part of the department’s continuous efforts to empower girls through sports and promote a culture of participation, fitness and discipline in educational institutions.
