Srinagar: In the lanes of Jawahar Nagar, Srinagar, a boy once dreamt with open eyes. Born in 1992, Shahid Khan wasn’t just another face in the crowd—there was a spark in him, a hunger that went beyond the ordinary.

While others in his age group still were figuring out what to do with their lives, Shahid was already shaping his—literally. Discipline, determination, and a deep love for fitness became the prime blocks of his early years.

“I didn’t know where exactly I was headed,” Shahid recalls, “but I knew I didn’t want to settle for an average life. I wanted to push myself physically, mentally, and creatively.”

After completing his studies in Kashmir, Shahid moved to Delhi in his early twenties, carrying little more than a suitcase full of ambition and a head full of dreams.

He began working as a personal trainer at high-end gyms in the capital, and it didn’t take long before people noticed him and it was not just for his physique, but for the energy he brought along. His sessions were more than workouts, they were transformations. Bit by bit, his Instagram began buzzing. Fitness tips, lifestyle posts, and behind-the-scenes glimpses into his life caught the attention of modelling agencies.

“Fitness was my first love, but I always saw it as a gateway to something bigger,” Shahid says. “Modelling just felt like the next natural step—another way to express who I was becoming.”

By 2015, Shahid was juggling gym sessions and photoshoots, carving a space for himself in the fiercely competitive modelling world. From fitness brand campaigns to fashion magazine spreads and even walking ramps in Mumbai, his journey picked up pace. But what set him apart wasn’t just his looks—it was how deeply rooted and real he remained.

“I’ve always tried to keep my feet on the ground. The glitz can be blinding, but I never wanted to lose touch with where I came from,” he says.

Yet, even as lights flashed and cameras clicked, Shahid held on to a quiet dream. He always wanted to build a space that reflected who he was—something that brought together health, creativity, and soulful conversations.

That dream took shape in 2021 when Shahid opened The Black Vintage—a poetic lifestyle café in Srinagar. It wasn’t just a café. It was a vibe. Designed for health-conscious foodies, fitness lovers, and artists looking for a calm corner, the cafe served protein-rich bites, herbal teas, and soul-soothing meals with a healthy twist.

“Opening a cafe during the pandemic was scary,” Shahid admits. “But I kept thinking if not now, then when? People were craving comfort, authenticity, connection. I wanted to create a space where they could find all three.”

The Black Vintage located at Jawahar Nagar in upper town Srinagar quickly became a local favorite—not just for its food, but for its mood. With soft poetry and the paintings of Kashmiri poets on the walls and the poetry engraved on the tables, playlists curated from across cultures, and an open invitation to dreamers, it mirrored Shahid’s own journey.

Today, Shahid Khan is more than a fitness trainer or a model. He’s an entrepreneur, a storyteller, and a symbol of what it means to dream fearlessly.

“My story isn’t just about fitness or fashion or food,” Shahid reflects. “It’s about not giving up. About turning every ‘no’ into a reason to try harder. If my journey inspires even one person to chase what sets their soul on fire, that’s enough for me.”
From the gyms of Delhi to the fashion ramps of Mumbai, and now to a cafe in Srinagar, Shahid’s journey is a living reminder: when passion meets persistence, magic happens.
