Jammu: A senior BSF officer on Wednesday said that during ‘Operation Sindoor’, the BSF destroyed many terrorist hideouts in Sialkot sector in Pakistan and also foiled major infiltration bids by around 45 to 50 terrorists on May 8 in Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
“BSF used heavy mortar fire to destroy enemy posts after Pakistan under the cover of ceasefire violations attempted to facilitate the infiltration along the International Border,” a senior BSF officer told a section of selected media on their visit to the International Border facilitated by the BSF Jammu Frontier.
He said that the BSF effectively responded to the shelling and destroyed enemy posts, and foiled the infiltrations bids.
“As per intelligence inputs, a group of 45 to 50 terrorists wanted to sneak into Indian territory but our troops inflicted great losses on them,” said the top officer.
He also lauded the role of women troops stating, “we are proud of our women force as they stood shoulder to shoulder with male counterparts and effectively performed their duties.”
He also revealed that Pakistan carried out drone attacks with the intention of harming Jammu and its surrounding areas after facing defeat in ‘Operation Sindoor’ but India’s air defense system foiled their nefarious designs on May 8-9.
“Along with a solid air defense system, anti-drone guns of the Border Security Force deployed on the International border, also foiled Pakistan’s conspiracy,” he added.
He also said that after nearly two weeks of the ceasefire, the Pakistan Rangers are not returning to their posts.
India launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 as a decisive military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed.
The Indian Armed Forces targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, leading to the killing of over 100 terrorists affiliated with terror outfits like the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizbul Mujahideen.
On May 10, an understanding on the cessation of hostilities between India and Pakistan was announced.
