One Soldier Injured in Ongoing Kishtwar Encounter

Kishtwar, May 22 (JKNS): A soldier was sustained injuries during an ongoing encounter between terrorists and security forces in the Singhpora area of Chatroo in Kishtwar district, officials said.

As reported earlier, gunfight erupted after a joint team of Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police launched a cordon-and-search operation based on specific intelligence inputs. As the forces approached the suspected spot, they came under heavy fire from the hiding terrorists.

Official sources confirmed to news agency JKNS that one soldier injured in ongoing operation and is undergoing treatment. The operation is still underway, and intermittent exchange of fire continues as 3–4 terrorists are believed to be holed up in the area.

Further reinforcements have been rushed to the site, and the area remains under tight cordon. More details are awaited. (JKNS)
