Ganderbal : In a remarkable initiative aimed at fostering student safety, resilience and civic responsibility, the NSS Unit of Government Degree College Ganderbal, in collaboration with the Department of Physical Education & Sports, organized a one day awareness programme on Self and Civil Defence.
The initiative was designed to impart essential self-defence techniques and civil preparedness skills, enabling the participants to respond effectively to emergencies and contribute proactively towards community safety.
Additional Chief Secretary, Education, Shantmanu was the chief guest on the occasion while Director Colleges, Professor Sheikh Aijaz Bashir, Director Colleges was the guest of honour.
The ACS commended the college administration for its proactive role in cultivating life saving skills and nurturing a culture of safety, awareness and community responsibility among the students.
The programme began with an eloquent welcome address by Dr. Shabana Aslam, Convener, Sports Committee, who expressed heartfelt appreciation for the overwhelming student participation and the enthusiastic support extended by the faculty.
On the occasion, Principal Professor Fouzia Fatima underscored the critical relevance of civil defence education in today’s world. She lauded the students for their confident and commendable performance, which reflected their deepening sense of civic responsibility and commitment to personal growth.
Dr. Jamsheeda Akhter, HOD Urdu and NSS Program officer-1 presented vote of thanks.
The event witnessed active participation from the college faculty and students, with a strong display of enthusiasm and commitment towards the cause of self-defence and community safety.
The appreciation extended by the Additional Chief Secretary and Director Colleges has served as a source of encouragement for the institution to further intensify such student-centric and community-oriented initiatives.
