Srinagar: In a swift and coordinated action, Indian Army Air Defence units neutralised several Pakistani kamikaze drones attempting to target civilian areas in Amritsar early Saturday morning.
Defence sources told news agency JKNS that at around 5 AM, multiple Byker YIHA III drones launched from across the International Border were detected by India’s surveillance systems as they approached densely populated sectors in Punjab. “Quick-reaction air-defence teams tracked and shot down the drones mid-air before they could cause any damage,” a senior defence official said.
Preliminary assessments suggest the drones were carrying high-explosive payloads aimed at inflicting mass civilian casualties. The successful interception highlights the precision and readiness of India’s multi-layered air defence system, the sources added. (JKNS)
