New Delhi, May 3 (JKNS): The Government of India on Saturday imposed an immediate ban on the direct or indirect import and transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, citing national security and public policy concerns.
As per a notification as per news agency JKNS issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), a new clause—Para 2.20A—has been inserted into the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) 2023 under the provisions of the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992.
“Direct or indirect import or transit of all goods originating in or exported from Pakistan, whether or not freely importable or otherwise permitted, shall be prohibited with immediate effect, until further orders,” the newly added provision states.
Any exception to this restriction will require prior approval from the Government of India.
The DGFT, in its notification signed by Director General Ajay Bhadoo, confirmed that the move has been taken in the interest of national security and shall remain in force until further notice.
The ban applies across all sectors and categories, and the order has been circulated to all stakeholders, including customs authorities and trade bodies, for strict compliance. (JKNS)
