New Delhi: “Sar tan se juda has been the ideology of the Congress,” BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia alleged on Tuesday, launching a sharp attack on the opposition party over a controversial social media post that depicted Prime Minister Narendra Modi without a head.

Terming the post “extremely sad and worrisome”, Bhatia said, “Even though Congress is an Indian political party, it constantly reveals its two faces and transforms into Lashkar-e-Pakistan Congress.”

The post, captioned “Gayab” (missing), was widely circulated on social media, drawing strong reactions from BJP leaders and supporters.

Bhatia said the image surfaced at a time when Prime Minister Modi had given a strong message to Pakistan, and alleged that the Congress tweet sought to undermine the country’s position globally.

“Releasing such a picture of the Prime Minister, Congress has given a message to Pakistan… They say they are supporting the Indian government and then release images like this… Pakistanis greatly appreciate this tweet of Congress,” he added.

As a prelude to the controversial ‘Gayab’ post, Bhatia pointed to global protests by the Indian diaspora against Pakistan. “In London, during a protest outside the Pakistan High Commission, their officer made a beheading gesture … That signal was caught in Rahul Gandhi’s antenna, and soon after, a similar image of the Prime Minister was posted,” he alleged.

He further asked, “So is it wrong to say that Congress is saying that we are with Pakistan?”

The remarks come amid heightened political tensions between the BJP and Congress in the lead-up to the general elections, with both parties engaged in a fierce war of words over national security and political messaging.
