4 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar, Contraband substance recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Thursday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a Police team of OCAPS Police Station Soura at a checkpoint established at Shalbaf Mohalla, intercepted a motorcycle (Discover) without a number plate with two suspects on board identified as Khalid Nazir Chelu S/o Nazir Ahmad R/o Umer Colony B Lal Bazar and Umer Mushtaq Bhat S/o Mushtaq Ah R/o Dar Mohalla Awanta Bhawan Soura. Stating that during search, substantial quantity of cannabis powder (charas like substance) was recovered from the possession of the said accused besides seizing the vehicle used in the commission of crime,Police in its statement further said that a police team of Police Station Zakoora at a checkpoint established at Wanihama Link Road, intercepted a load carrier (JK01BA-0654) with two suspects on board identified as Kawnser Mehdi Teli S/o Mohd Ayoob Teli R/o Merakshah Colony and Sahil Ahmad Shaikh S/o Sana-Ula-Shaikh R/o Batpora Hazratbal, Stating therein further that during search, substantial quantity of (charas like substance) was recovered from the said accused.
Stating that all the accused were arrested besides which cases under relevant sections of law were registered at respective police stations and initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112,Calling upon the people therein to cooperate with it to curb menace of drugs .
