3 drug peddlers arrested in Sopore & Kupwara; contraband substances also recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Sopore & Kupwara and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued from Zonal Police Headquarters Srinagar Police said that a police party headed by Incharge Police Post Bus Stand under the supervision of SDPO Sopore and SHO Police Station at a checkpoint established at Neharpora Sopore, intercepted a Vehicle (Ecco) bearing registration No. JK05M-4294 driven by one Jahangir Ahmad Shah S/o Mohammad Yousuf Shah R/o Neharpora Sopore and during search recovered 300 tablets of Alpradex 0.5 and cash amount of ?22550 from his possession, Stating therein further that vehhicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Stating in another similar action a police party of Police Station Sopore headed by SHO Police Station Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore at a checkpoint established at Super Bazar near Batpora Crossing, apprehended a suspect identified as Asif Ahmad Sheikh S/o Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh R/o Shahabad Sopore, Police in its statement further said that during search two sticks of contraband charas like substance were recovered from the possession of the said accused.
Police in its statement further said that in Kupwara also, a police party from Police Station Lalpora while on patrolling duty in the Bunpora area, intercepted a suspect identified as Fayaz Ahmad Wani S/o Abdul Rashid Wani R/o Lolab and during search recovered substantial amount of Charas-like substance from the possession of the said accused .
Stating that all the accused were arrested and subsequrntky cases under relevant sections of were registered at respective police stations besides initiating further investigation Police in the concluding para of its above quoted statement appealed people to share information regarding narcotics or any other crimes to the nearest police establishment or dial 112 , reiterating therein its call to people to cooperate with it in curbing the menace of drugs .
