Sopore: Deputy Inspector General of Police North Kashmir Range, Maqsood-ul-Zaman on Thursday said police are determined to crack down on those using drug money to fund terrorism and warned that strong action will follow.
Speaking to reporters during Thana Diwas in Dak Bungalow Sopore, Zaman as per news agency JKNS said, “We did very good with regard to drugs. We made recoveries, arrested many accused under the PIT-NDPS Act, and we are also targeting properties involved in the drug trade.”
Thana Diwas was held at Dak Bungalow Sopore and DIG Maqsood-ul-Zaman graced the occasion and was accompanied by SP Sopore Divya D.
Responding to questions on the recent attachment of properties linked to terror operatives, the DIG Zaman said: “That is important and routine under law, which is taking its own course. They are making drug money, so we will act against them.”
He added that Thana Diwas is not only about enforcement but also about public outreach. “We are trying to interact with people, listen to their concerns, and address issues on the spot. For civil matters, we are coordinating with other departments to ease the burden on the public,” Zaman said.
Reaffirming police resolve, the DIG NKR made it clear that anyone found involved in drugs or using its proceeds for anti-national activities will face strict legal action. (JKNS)
