New Delhi: In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, India has launched Operation Brahma to provide swift humanitarian assistance, underlining its commitment to the “Neighbourhood First” policy.

As part of the mission, a specialized medical team from the Indian Army—nicknamed The Flying Angels—has established a 60-bed field hospital in Mandalay. The facility has significantly eased pressure on Myanmar’s local healthcare system, which was overwhelmed by the crisis.

By April 6, more than 1,300 people had been treated at the field hospital, including several major surgeries and critical care cases. The operation is being hailed as a shining example of regional cooperation and timely medical outreach.

Officials said that India remains committed to standing by its neighbours in times of need, embodying the ancient Indian philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family.

The gesture has earned widespread appreciation and reflects India’s growing role as a dependable partner in the region during times of crisis.
