In his address, SSP Srinagar emphasized the hard-earned peace in Jammu & Kashmir, stating that it must be safeguarded through collective efforts of the police, security forces, and the community. He stressed that the benefits of peace can only be sustained if the people reject violence and terrorism, reinforcing the pivotal role of public participation in maintaining security.

Highlighting the New Criminal Laws, SSP Srinagar informed the attendees that these laws are aimed at ensuring speedy justice and making the criminal justice system more accountable and transparent. He stated that the government’s commitment to a prompt and efficient justice system is reflected in the continuous guidance and follow-ups from the Central Government and senior police formations.

A key focus of the programme was the fight against drugs, with the SSP reiterating that strong policing alone is not enough and that a collective societal approach is necessary to tackle the menace. He assured the people that Srinagar Police is fully committed to eradicating drugs from the city and fostering a safe and secure environment for its citizens.

Local residents hailed the Srinagar Police’s efforts, appreciating the tangible progress in curbing drug abuse over the past year. Many community members also took the opportunity to raise concerns, which were promptly addressed by the police leadership. SSP Srinagar assured swift resolution of all police and civil matters raised during the event.

To enhance public-police interaction and grievance redressal, the Srinagar Police introduced new citizen-friendly initiatives, including:
• Appointment of Complaint & Grievance Redressal Officers in all city police stations.
• QR Code-based feedback system to enable citizens to provide real-time feedback on police services. These QR codes will be placed at police stations, police offices, hospitals, markets, bus stands, and other public places.

Earlier, SP North, SDPOs of North Zone, and other senior officers briefed the public about key aspects of the New Criminal Laws and their role in strengthening justice delivery. Several public issues were discussed during the session, with officers assuring timely redressal.

Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to public safety, transparency, and community-driven policing, working hand-in-hand with the people to ensure peace, security, and justice for all.
