Shopian: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian,Shishir Gupta, today flagged off a group of 32 farmers of the district from Shopian to Jammu/ Punjab for a six-day exposure visit, organized under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (ATMA-2024-25).

The programme, facilitated by the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shopian, aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of farmers & agripreneurs by providing them with first-hand experience of advanced agricultural practices.

The exposure visit includes training sessions,covering modern & innovative farming techniques,sustainable agriculture and value-added farming practices along with visit to several research centres and universities and on field exposure in the state of Punjab.

They will also visit SKUAST Jammu for one day training on Mushroom Cultivation practices.

During the flag-off ceremony,DC Shopian emphasized the importance of such initiatives in empowering the farming community and boosting agricultural productivity in the district.

He lauded the efforts of the Agriculture Department in facilitating farmer education and capacity-building programmes.

CAO,Farooq Ahmad Reshi, officers,officials of agriculture department and numerous farmers were present on the occasion.
