New Delhi: Addressing the joint session of Parliament, President Droupadi Murmu on Friday said that modern infrastructure along the international borders has not only boosted security but also promoted tourism.

Murmu said that along with protecting the borders, development of the border areas of the country is also an important part of the government’s strategy.

“Infrastructure along the borders and modern infrastructure like Atal Tunnel, Sela Tunnel, Sonamarg Tunnel have given a boost to defense and tourism,” Murmu said.

The President said the government has taken historic steps to ensure internal and border security of the country.

“We have achieved encouraging results with regards to the self-reliant defence sector,” Murmu said.
