Ganderbal: As Ganderbal gears up for a historic moment with the inauguration of the Z-Morh Tunnel by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 13th January 2025, District President Ganderbal, Mohd Amin Shah, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Prime Minister, the BJP government, and Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh General Secretary Ashok Koul for their commitment to transforming the region’s infrastructure.

In a statement to the media, Mohd Amin Shah applauded the leadership of PM Modi, calling the Z-Morh Tunnel project a landmark achievement that will bring tangible benefits to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. “The Z-Morh Tunnel is a testament to the vision of PM Modi and the BJP government to prioritize connectivity and development in remote and strategically important areas. This project will bridge the gap between regions, ensure year-round accessibility to Sonamarg, and foster a new era of progress for Ganderbal and beyond,” he said.

Shah also acknowledged the instrumental role of Ashok Koul, the General Secretary (Organization) of BJP, in facilitating such initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir. “Shri Ashok Koul’s efforts in pushing forward critical projects like the Z-Morh Tunnel have been remarkable. His unwavering dedication to the development of our district deserves our deepest respect and gratitude.”

Highlighting the strategic and economic significance of the ₹2,400 crore project, Shah remarked, “This tunnel is not just an infrastructure milestone; it is a lifeline for the people of Kashmir. It ensures uninterrupted connectivity for civilians and the military alike, even during the harshest winters. The reduced travel time and improved safety will undoubtedly give a boost to tourism, trade, and local businesses in Sonamarg, which have long suffered due to seasonal disruptions.” He further commended the contribution of local workers and engineers, noting that the project has provided employment opportunities to many skilled and unskilled workers from Kashmir, Doda, and Banihal. “This initiative symbolizes the union of national aspirations and local participation, creating a brighter future for our region.”
