next two days, with an improvement expected thereafter.

According to the IMD, “A wet spell over the Western Himalayan Region is expected until January 7th, and over the plains of northwest India on January 5th and 6th. Isolated heavy rainfall and snowfall are also likely over Jammu and Kashmir on January 4th and 5th.”

The IMD further said, “Cold day conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, as well as in some parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Bihar today, and in isolated pockets of East Uttar Pradesh on January 3rd and 4th.”

The IMD also predicted coldwave conditions in isolated pockets of Telangana and North Interior Karnataka until tomorrow.

Very dense fog conditions are likely to prevail during the late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi, as well as in some parts of Uttar Pradesh. Dense fog conditions are also very likely during the late night and early morning hours in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya.

Additionally, dense fog conditions may occur in isolated pockets of north Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Assam, Meghalaya, and Uttar Pradesh until January 9th,” the IMD said.

The department also indicated a gradual rise in minimum temperatures by 2-3°C over northwest India during the next four days, followed by a fall of 2-4°C thereafter. No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over central and west India during the next five days, except in Gujarat state, where temperatures are expected to remain stable for the next three days and then fall by 2-3°C.

Similarly, no significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over east India during the next 24 hours, followed by a rise of 2-3°C over the subsequent 2-3 days, the IMD added.
