NIA Attaches Property of Key Accused in Kokernag Encounter Case Involving LeT Terrorist

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has attached the property of a key accused involved in a Jammu and Kashmir encounter case linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

“The accused, identified as Mohammad Akbar Dar, was an associate of slain LeT terrorist Uzair Khan. Dar had allegedly provided logistical support, shelter, food, and intelligence to the terrorist,” reads a statement issued, a copy of which lies with the news agency JKNS.

It reads as, as part of its ongoing crackdown on terror networks in Kashmir, the NIA attached Dar’s immovable property, measuring 19 marlas, in the Halpora Kokernag area of Anantnag. The action was taken under Section 25(1) of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

It reads, the encounter, which took place in the Guri Nad forest area of Kokernag in 2023, led to the killing of Uzair Khan. Four security personnel lost their lives during the operation. Dar was arrested on September 20, 2023, after the recovery of 40 live rounds of AK-47 ammunition and other incriminating materials from his residence. He was chargesheeted in March 2024 before the NIA Special Court in Jammu under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, and UA(P)A. The case is registered as RC-04/2023/NIA/JMU.—(JKNS)
