Srinagar: Seven passengers were successfully rescued after two vehicles got stuck in heavy snowfall on Mughal Road near Chatta Pani, officials said here.

Officials told the news agency JKNS that at least two vehicles were traveling from Srinagar to Poonch when they became trapped in the snow.

They said the authorities carried out a difficult rescue operation to safely evacuate the passengers from both vehicles. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“However, the vehicles remain stuck in the snow, and the road has been blocked in both directions due to the ongoing heavy snowfall,” said the officials, adding that they warn travelers to avoid the route as the weather conditions continue to worsen.—(JKNS)
