Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State Women’s Wing President and MLA Habba Kadal, Advocate Shameema Firdous, interacted with fishermen and women at Tengpora Bypass.
According to a statement issued from party headquarters here, the interaction was followed by a meeting with the Director of Fisheries Department, officers from the Joint Director Fisheries and officers of Revenue Departments, and other stakeholders.
Addressing the people, Shameema Firdous reaffirmed the National Conference’s dedication to enhancing the livelihood and employment opportunities for the fishing community. She emphasized the party’s commitment to establishing specialized fish markets to boost the economic well-being of fishermen and women throughout the region.
In a significant development, it was announced that the current fish market at Daresh Kadal (Safa Kadal) will be relocated to Tengpora Bypass. Seven kanals of land have already been designated for this purpose, ensuring a more convenient and spacious facility for the industry. Advocate Shameema Firdous commended the government’s allocation of ?500 crore for the construction of the Fisheries Market and for initiatives aimed at improving the lives of the fishing community.
