Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday criticised the Congress party accusing it of pursuing divisionary and not development-oriented agenda.

Addressing an election rally at Graham Fert company’s ground in Chikalthana MIDC area near here for 14 candidates of the Mahayuti from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Jalna districts, he made a frontal attack on the Congress and its allies, saying that they want to restore Article 370 and are planning for a separate Constitution for Kashmir, however, they will not succeed in their designs.

He claimed that the Congress was always against reservation.

Talking about Maharashtra’s achievement in all fields, the PM further claimed that the state has received highest foreign direct investments after formation of BJP-led Mahayuti government.

He also claimed that the Congress and the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) were in trouble following the name change of the city from Aurangabad to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

He said, “On the one hand there are patriots who believe in Sambhaji Maharaj, on the other hand, there are people who sing praises of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The entire Maharashtra knows that late Shiv Sena founder-president Bal Thackeray had demanded to change the name of the city to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. However, despite being in power for two and half years, the MVA did not do so due to alleged pressure from the Congress.

“But, once the Mahayuti government came to power, it named the city Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and fulfilled Bal Thackeray’s wish,” he said.

“Maharashtra wants to lead the vision of a developed India. The BJP and the Mahayuti are working in this direction,” Modi added.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Union Minister Ramdas Athawale, former Union minister of state Raosaheb Danve and MP Dr Bhagwat Karad among others were present on dias.
