Tanghdar, November 2 – Students at Government Degree College Tanghdar protested today, voicing frustration over longstanding issues impacting their education and campus safety. In a detailed letter submitted to college authorities and local representatives, they outlined grievances, seeking urgent intervention to resolve them.
Among the key concerns was *campus security*. The students noted that an unresolved land dispute has left the college without proper fencing, leading to unauthorized access that poses a safety risk. They demanded the establishment of a secure boundary to maintain a safe environment for all.
Transportation was another significant issue raised. Although the college owns two buses, both remain unused due to financial constraints, making it difficult for students from remote areas to attend classes. The students appealed for funding to make these buses operational and called for additional support from the local MLA.
Further concerns included inadequate *library resources*, frequent power outages due to a lack of fuel for the college generator, and delays in examination processing. The students also pointed out that contractual lecturers face low remuneration, leading to a shortage of teaching staff. They called for a revision in pay to align with UGC standards, which they believe will help attract quality educators.
Additionally, the lack of an auditorium has prevented the college from organizing seminars and workshops. The students urged the administration to prioritize the construction of an auditorium with a seating capacity of 1,000 to enhance their educational opportunities.
Upon learning about the protest, Tehsildar Karnah Mohd Amin and SHO Tangdar Inspector Waseem Budoo arrived on the scene to address the students’ grievances. Tehsildar Amin assured the students that their concerns would be addressed promptly. Satisfied with this assurance, the students peacefully concluded their protest and resumed their classes.
