Baramulla Sep 15: The UT Level Inter-Division Football Competitions for All Age Groups (AAG) Boys was officially inaugurated on Sunday at the Showkat Ali Stadium here. The event, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports J&K, is being hosted by District Baramulla and shall continue till 17th of the current month. The competitions were formally kicked off by Nazir Ahmad Bhat, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, who welcomed all participants from both the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. In his inaugural address, he encouraged the young athletes to strive for excellence in sports, emphasizing the significance of hard work, discipline, and teamwork in achieving success both on and off the field. He extended his best wishes to all the players, expressing hope for their bright future in the field of sports.
The competition features three teams from Jammu Division and three teams from Kashmir Division in three categories: Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19. Over the course of the tournament, each division will compete against each other in all three categories. Each team is scheduled to play a total of three matches in their respective age group.
The opening day saw three exciting matches:
1. Under-19 Boys: The first match, played between the Jammu Division and Kashmir Division, resulted in a victory for Kashmir Division with a final score of 4-1.
2. Under-14 Boys: The second match was also contested between Jammu Division and Kashmir Division, with Kashmir Division emerging victorious once again with a score of 2-0.
3. Under-17 Boys: In the third match of the day, Kashmir Division triumphed with an impressive scoreline of 7-0, marking their dominance in the competition.
On the first day of the tournament, all six teams participated in one match each, showcasing their skills and sportsmanship. The second round of matches is scheduled to commence on Monday, with the competition expected to intensify as teams vie for the top spot in their respective categories.
