Srinagar, Oct 27 (JKNS): “I am also a human being, my heart hurts”—National Conference MLA Abdul Majeed Larvi on Tuesday opened up about his disappointment over being left out of the Jammu and Kashmir Cabinet expansion, saying his seniority, honesty, loyalty and dedication to the party had made him believe he deserved a ministerial berth.
Speaking after four legislators were inducted into the Omar Abdullah-led government, the Anantnag West MLA Larvi as per news agency JKNS said he had expected to be among those chosen for the Cabinet but accepted that the final decision rested with the party leadership.
“It was God’s decision and then it was our leadership’s decision. Our leadership understood it better, although I was deserving of a ministerial post. I was expecting that it would happen to me as well,” Larvi said.
While accepting the induction of the four new ministers, Larvi acknowledged that his exclusion had caused him personal disappointment.
“The four people they took, we accept them. It’s not like that. But my heart does hurt because I deserved it as well,” he said.
Explaining why the decision had affected him, Larvi pointed to his years of service and commitment to the National Conference, stressing that he had remained honest, loyal and dedicated to the party.
“My heart hurts because I was a senior. Secondly, I was honest. Thirdly, I was loyal. Fourthly, I was dedicated. It is because of that my heart hurts. Because I am also a human being,” he said.
Despite the disappointment, Larvi made it clear that his commitment to the party remained unchanged, describing himself as a soldier of the National Conference.
“I am a soldier of the party. God willing, we will work for the party. Such situations keep coming up,” he said.
His remarks came after Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Ali Mohammad Sagar, Shameema Firdous, Mir Saifullah and Altaf Ahmad Kalloo at Lok Bhavan in Srinagar on Tuesday, taking the Council of Ministers to its maximum permissible strength of nine members.
