Karnah Kupwara(JKNS): Focus on developmental works, essential services and preparation of a comprehensive village profile

Teetwal, Karnah: As part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen infrastructure and accelerate development in border areas, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Karnah, Mr. Riyaz Ahmad, JKAS, along with officers from various line departments of Karnah, undertook a comprehensive field visit to Vibrant Village Teetwal in Block Teetwal under the Vibrant Villages Programme Phase-II (VVP-II).

The visit aimed at assessing the ground-level status of developmental works, reviewing the availability of essential public services, identifying infrastructure gaps and ensuring effective implementation of various government schemes in the strategically significant border village.

During the visit, officers from the Public Works Department (PWD–R&B), Rural Development Department (RDD), Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), Jal Shakti Department, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA), Mission YUVA, Social Welfare, Health and School Education departments accompanied the SDM and reviewed key developmental and public welfare aspects concerning the village.

The field visit also focused on collecting ground-level information and assessing the existing infrastructure, public amenities and service delivery mechanisms to facilitate the preparation of a detailed Village Profile. The exercise is expected to help identify local needs, prioritise developmental interventions and ensure better coordination among departments for need-based planning.

Interacting with local residents, the visiting team took stock of issues and concerns related to essential services and developmental requirements. The engagement provided an opportunity to understand the aspirations of the local population and identify areas requiring focused administrative attention.

The Vibrant Villages Programme Phase-II seeks to promote comprehensive development in identified border villages through improved infrastructure, better access to essential services, livelihood opportunities and enhanced quality of life for residents.

The visit reflects the District Administration Kupwara’s continued emphasis on grassroots-level assessment, interdepartmental coordination and participatory development to ensure that government initiatives translate into tangible benefits for people living in border areas.(JKNS)
