Budgam, October 14: In a humanitarian initiative aimed at supporting underprivileged families, the Caring People’s Welfare Foundation Budgam provided marriage assistance to 21 girls belonging to economically weaker families in Hanjigura, Beerwah.

The initiative aims to support families in need, ease their financial difficulties and promote the values of compassion, brotherhood, dignity and social responsibility in society.

The foundation’s initiative reflects its commitment to supporting underprivileged and disadvantaged sections of society. Marriage, an important milestone in life, often brings considerable financial challenges for poor and low-income families. In such circumstances, assistance from welfare organisations and philanthropists can serve as a significant source of support.

Chairman of the Caring People’s Welfare Foundation, Muzammil Ahmad, highlighted the importance of humanitarian service, social cooperation and extending support to families in need. The initiative to provide marriage assistance to 21 girls is an effort to reduce the financial burden on their families and strengthen the sense of collective responsibility within society.

Although marriage marks an important stage in life, the expenses associated with it can create significant difficulties for economically weaker families. Parents with limited financial resources often find it challenging to arrange their daughters’ marriages. Support from welfare organisations not only helps ease this financial burden but also reassures struggling families that society stands with them during difficult times.

Local residents appreciated the foundation’s humanitarian initiative, describing it as a positive step towards supporting needy families and promoting brotherhood in society. They said such efforts provide relief to vulnerable sections of society while encouraging others to participate in charitable activities and humanitarian services.

The residents also stressed the need to strengthen mutual cooperation, compassion and collective responsibility so that families facing financial difficulties do not feel isolated. They maintained that coordinated efforts by welfare organisations, philanthropists and socially responsible individuals can bring positive changes to the lives of those in need.

Call for Abolition of Dowry and Promotion of Simple Marriages

On the occasion, Caring People’s Welfare Foundation Chairman Muzammil Ahmad appealed to society to abolish the practice of dowry and promote simple marriages, stating that dowry demands and unnecessary wedding expenses place a heavy financial burden on poor families.

He said there was a need to make marriages free from unnecessary rituals and financial demands so that parents from economically weaker backgrounds could solemnise their daughters’ marriages with dignity and respect.

According to him, the pressure of dowry and extravagant wedding expenses also creates difficulties for economically disadvantaged young men, with some being compelled to postpone or avoid marriage because of their limited financial resources.

Muzammil Ahmad urged people to abandon dowry demands, extravagance and social customs that impose unnecessary financial pressure on families. He emphasised that marriages should be made simpler so that financial hardship does not become an obstacle to this important and joyful occasion in anyone’s life.

He further said that promoting simple marriages was the need of the hour. All sections of society should contribute towards this cause and adopt positive social practices that provide relief to poor and needy families.

The chairman emphasised that simplicity, mutual respect, dignity and Islamic teachings should be given priority in marriage ceremonies. He said meaningful social change could be achieved only when people avoid unnecessary customs, understand one another’s difficulties and extend a helping hand whenever needed.

Through this initiative, the Caring People’s Welfare Foundation Budgam has highlighted the importance of humanitarian service, generosity and collective cooperation. Supporting needy families while raising awareness against social practices such as dowry can contribute to building a society where everyone is treated with dignity, respect and equality.

The foundation’s initiative to extend marriage assistance to 21 girls reinforces the message that serving humanity is not merely an individual effort but a collective social responsibility.

If people from all sections of society contribute according to their means, support underprivileged families and help make marriages simpler, it can significantly reduce financial hardships and strengthen social harmony.
