Chairman of the Save Sharda Committee Kashmir and President of the All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS), Ravinder Pandita, called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar, today and discussed a range of issues concerning the development of Sharda Temple at Teetwal, Karnah, and promotion of border and religious tourism in the region.
Pandita, accompanied by Mahaveer Thusoo, apprised the Lieutenant Governor of various requirements for strengthening pilgrim facilities and tourism infrastructure at Teetwal. The delegation sought several measures, including setting up a Yatri Niwas on EP land at Teetwal, transit accommodation in Srinagar, solar lighting for the temple complex, an overhead water tank for Teetwal, two mini-buses for the area and enhanced security for the temple coordinator.
The committee also highlighted the need for further measures to promote border and religious tourism in Karnah, particularly around the historic Sharda Temple and the Teetwal area.
During the meeting, Ravinder Pandita and Mahaveer Thusoo presented the Lieutenant Governor with prashad from the Sharda Temple and a traditional Sharda shawl.
While appreciating the efforts being undertaken by the committee, the Lieutenant Governor shared his views regarding his inability to attend the annual Sharda Divas. He, however, assured the delegation that he would visit the Sharda Temple soon and seek the blessings of Maa Sharda.
Pandita said that the Save Sharda Committee, which is working as a trust, is taking all possible steps to promote border and religious tourism and facilitate pilgrims visiting the historic shrine.
He further informed the Lieutenant Governor that the number of pilgrims visiting Sharda Temple, Teetwal, has crossed the 10,000 mark this year so far, reflecting growing interest in the area as an important destination for religious and border tourism.
The meeting focused on strengthening pilgrim infrastructure, improving connectivity and facilities, and giving further impetus to the religious and tourism potential of Teetwal and Karnah.(KNS)
