Massive Crackdown on Drugs in Anantnag: 6 Peddlers Arrested; Charas & Heroin Recovered

Anantnag, Oct 5 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, police in Anantnag has arrested 06 persons in separate actions across the district and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Police Station Srigufwara, during naka checking at Sirhama Crossing, apprehended Khurshid Ahmad Nengroo son of Gh. Ahmad Nengroo resident of Nowshara.

 

During his search, 70 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. In another separate action, Police Station Bijbehara apprehended Ubaid Majeed Shah son of Ab. Majeed Shah resident of Guree at Pazalpora and recovered 15 grams of charas from his possession.

 

Similarly, near Wopzan, police apprehended Mohd Shameem Das son of Assadullah Das resident of Waghama and 15 grams of charas was recovered from his possession during checking.

 

Moreover, Police Station Bijbehara near Tulkhan, apprehended Muneeb Ahmad Ganie son of Manzoor Ahmad resident of Akad Mattan, from whose possession 14 grams of charas was recovered.

 

Meanwhile, Police Post GBS at a checkpoint established at Chee Tarbal Bridge intercepted two persons Zubair Ahmad Palla son of Mohd Abass Palla resident of Reshi Colony Mir Danter, Anantnag and Danish Mushtaq son of Mushtaq Ahmad Malik resident of Nowbugh Larnoo.

 

During the operation, 3.37 grams of heroin, a cash amount of ₹11,800/- and a weighing machine were recovered from their possession.

 

Accordingly, Cognizance have been taken in the respective cases, and further investigation is underway.

 

Police reiterates its commitment to continuing stringent action against drug trafficking and ensuring a drug-free society.
