Budgam, October 3, 2026: Elections for the District Bar Association Budgam were held on Saturday for various office-bearer posts, with candidates contesting in a keenly contested electoral process.
Following the completion of the electoral process and declaration of results, Mohammad Maqbool Jan was elected as Patron, defeating Javed Mohammad Hubi.
For the post of President, Syed Sajjad Gilani emerged victorious against Mobashir Wani and was declared elected.
Farhat Zafar secured the post of Vice-President, defeating Mohammad Rajab Bhat and Sheikh Hilal.
For the post of General Secretary, Afaq Ali Malik emerged victorious against Zafar Taploo, Shah Abdul Manan and Wahid Ali.
Ishfaq Nazir Wani was elected as Treasurer after contesting against Altaf Ahmad Wani and Imtiyaz Rather.
Accordingly, the newly elected body of the District Bar Association Budgam comprises Mohammad Maqbool Jan as Patron, Syed Sajjad Gilani as President, Farhat Zafar as Vice-President, Afaq Ali Malik as General Secretary, and Ishfaq Nazir Wani as Treasurer.
A winning certificate issued by the District Bar Association Budgam separately confirms the election of Afaq Ali Malik as General Secretary. The certificate, issued by the Election Authority, appreciates his dedication, commitment and valuable contribution towards the Bar.
The newly elected office-bearers are expected to work towards strengthening the functioning of the Bar Association, safeguarding the professional interests of its members and addressing matters concerning the legal fraternity.
Afaq Ali Malik expressed his commitment to discharging his responsibilities with dedication and working for the welfare and professional interests of the members of the District Bar Association Budgam.
