Budgam, Oct 2 (JKNS): Residents of Lalpora, Petpora and Tangpora areas of Beerwah have expressed satisfaction over the ongoing water supply scheme aimed at improving drinking water facilities and thanked the District Administration Budgam and the Jal Shakti Department for addressing their long-pending demand.

According to the residents, they had been facing difficulties related to drinking water for nearly four decades. The area comprises around 150 households, which, they said, had been facing various hardships due to the lack of an adequate and regular water supply.

The residents said that the commencement of work on the ongoing water supply scheme has generated hope among the local population and provided considerable relief. They appreciated the efforts of the Jal Shakti Department and concerned officials for paying attention to their long-pending demand and taking forward the water supply project.

The residents particularly expressed gratitude to AEE Jal Shakti Beerwah Shoub Lone, saying that he extended support and cooperation in addressing the drinking water-related issues faced by the local population.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, Farooq Ahmad Qureshi and Ghulam Mohammad Bhat said that the people of the area are thankful to the District Administration Budgam and the Jal Shakti Department for paying attention to the drinking water problem that had persisted for several decades.

They said the local population had been waiting for proper drinking water facilities for a long time and that the progress of the ongoing scheme has raised hopes that people will no longer have to face the same difficulties in the future.

The residents also appreciated the work and cooperation of the water supply scheme contractor, Abdul Majeed. They said the efforts being made by the contractor to carry forward and complete the project efficiently are appreciable.

The residents also expressed gratitude to the Auqaf Committee for extending cooperation and support during the execution of the water supply-related work, saying that its cooperation helped in taking the project forward.

The residents expressed hope that with continued cooperation from the Jal Shakti Department, the concerned contractor and other local stakeholders, the scheme would be completed and made fully functional at the earliest.

Meanwhile, several other local residents who spoke to this correspondent appealed to the higher authorities to ensure the timely completion of the remaining work and commissioning of the water supply scheme for public use.

They also expressed gratitude to MLA Beerwah Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani for his support towards the development of the area and resolution of public issues. The residents said cooperation from elected representatives and concerned departments is important in addressing basic issues faced by the local population.

According to the residents, once the scheme is completed and made fully functional, around 150 households will benefit from a regular and adequate supply of drinking water.

They appealed to the higher authorities, particularly the concerned officials of the Jal Shakti Department, to continue monitoring the project and ensure that the remaining work is completed without unnecessary delay.

The residents said they hope the water supply scheme will provide a lasting solution to their drinking water problem, which has continued for nearly four decades.

The residents once again expressed their gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Budgam, District Administration Budgam, Jal Shakti Department, concerned officials, AEE Jal Shakti Beerwah Shoub Lone, contractor Abdul Majeed, Auqaf Committee and MLA Beerwah Dr Shafi Ahmad Wani for their support and efforts towards improving basic public amenities in the area.

They said the progress of the water supply scheme has brought happiness, relief and hope among the people and expressed optimism that the project will soon become fully operational and provide a regular and adequate drinking water facility to the local population.
