Baramulla, Sept 29 (JKNS): Human Aid Society, a prominent social organisation based in North Kashmir and working across Jammu and Kashmir, today celebrated its 28th Foundation Day.
The occasion also marked the laying of the foundation stone of the Society’s proposed Skill Development Training Centre (SDTC).
The foundation stone was laid by Hon’ble Former Chief Justice of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey.
The programme was attended by Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, former Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla and former Chairman, J&K Public Service Commission; Mr. Sunil Kumar Mishra, Principal Adviser, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII); former Cabinet Minister Janab Syed Basharat Bukhari; prominent social and political activist Naseer Ahmad Rather; Shabbir Ahmad Shah; Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar; and other prominent personalities, retired officers, lawyers, journalists, social workers and local residents. Mr. Ross Masood of RRAI Organization, USA, was also present on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman Human Aid Society, Bashir Ahmad Mir, expressed his gratitude to the district administration, police and security agencies, local residents and donors for their continued support.
He recalled that the organisation began its journey with a modest contribution of Rs. 10,000 and, with sustained public and donor support, gradually developed into an institution serving communities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The land for the proposed Skill Development Training Centre, valued at approximately Rs. 1 crore, has been donated by the Chairman and his family for the welfare of the community.
The Centre aims to provide young people with skill-based training and improved livelihood opportunities.
In his address, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey emphasised that social welfare should go beyond rehabilitation and charity and should also address the social evils affecting society.
Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone recalled the proactive role played by Human Aid Society during his tenure as Deputy Commissioner, Baramulla, and appreciated the organisation’s continued commitment to reaching people in need.
The Society also presented its annual performance report, highlighting its activities during the past year and outlining its plans and priorities for the future.
Several journalists, including Ubaid Malik, Sheikh Dawood, Manzoor Shiri, G. Shahan Qadir and Rizwan Ahmad Mir, were honoured with Tokens of Appreciation for their contribution to journalism and social reporting.
For outstanding social service, Kounsar Sabir Uri, Safir Ahmad Pathan and Shaukat Ahmad Mir, among others, were presented with Awards of Appreciation.
The contribution of the PDD and PHE departments in facilitating essential services for the Skill Development Training Centre was also acknowledged and appreciated. Volta Tanks were presented by Janab Haji Karamat Qayoom, Patron of Human Aid Society, as part of his support for the Society’s welfare initiatives.
The occasion also witnessed enthusiastic participation from all members, volunteers and dedicated workers of Human Aid Society, who contributed wholeheartedly to the programme. Their active involvement and collective efforts played a key role in making the event successful and well-organised.
The occasion also marked the 33rd death anniversary of the Chairman’s late father, Abdul Kabir Mir, who was remembered with respect and tribute.
The gathering also paid homage to several individuals who had stood alongside the Chairman during the organisation’s journey of social service, including Ghulam Rasool Butt, Shakira M, Ghulam Mohiuddin Dar, Mohammad Sadiq Sheikh, Mohammad Maqbool Malik, Ghulam Mohammad Dar, Ghulam Hassan Mir and Abdul Majid Andrabi.
Local residents welcomed the establishment of the Skill Development Training Centre and assured Human Aid Society of their continued cooperation and support for its future initiatives.
Human Aid Society reaffirmed its commitment to serving the poor, needy and marginalised sections of society and to creating greater opportunities for skill development, empowerment and sustainable livelihoods among young people. (JKNS)
