keran, Sept 21 (JKNS): The ongoing Keran Mela 2026 witnessed enthusiastic participation of 16 team the Keran Mela Cricket Tournament final were held in Keran.
The keran Mela 2026 organised by the Indian Army in collaboration with the District Administration Kupwara, saw hundreds of youngsters taking part. The race was conducted in two categories—Under-30 and Over-30.
The cricket final was played between Lolab Panthers and Sarhad Keran, with Lolab Panthers defeating Sarhad Keran to lift the Keran Mela 2026 Cricket Trophy. The final witnessed a large gathering of spectators and added to the festive atmosphere of the mela.
The cricket final attracted a large gathering of spectators, creating an energetic and festive atmosphere across the Keran Bowl. Players from both teams displayed strong determination, competitive spirit and sportsmanship throughout the match.
The victory of Serhad Keran added another memorable chapter to the sporting events of Keran Mela 2026, while the participation of teams from different areas highlighted the role of the Mela in bringing communities together through sports.
In the Under-30 category, two cousin brothers secured the first and second positions, while a student from BHS Kundian bagged the third position.
Speaking to Media , participants said such sporting events provide local youngsters with an opportunity to showcase their talent and remain engaged in positive and constructive activities. They also said regular sports events can encourage youth to stay away from drug abuse and other harmful activities.
Locals appreciated the initiative and called for more such sporting and youth-oriented activities to be organised regularly in Keran.JKNS
