CRPF’s 21 Bn Organises Judo Competition Under Civic Action Programme In Srinagar

Srinagar, Sept 18 (JKNS): A two-day Judo Competition 2026 was organised on 17th and 18th September 2026 under the Civic Action Programme 2026 by 21 Battalion, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), in collaboration with J&K Judo Association and Saving the Future NGO, at Indoor Sports Complex, Ellahi Bagh, Srinagar.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation of more than 175 young judokas from various schools, clubs and sporting institutions across Srinagar. Participating institutions included Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School, J&K Police Public School, Government Middle School Khalifa Pora, Delhi Public Montessori School, Sheikh-ul-Alam School, Judo J&K, Wazir Bagh Club and other sports institutions.

The event was organised with the objective of promoting sports among youth and encouraging discipline, fitness, confidence and a healthy competitive spirit. It provided young athletes with a valuable platform to showcase their talent, gain competitive exposure and interact with fellow sportspersons. The initiative also reflected the CRPF’s continued commitment towards youth engagement and community outreach under its Civic Action Programme.

The opening ceremony was graced by Shri Salman Ali Sagar, Hon’ble MLA Hazratbal, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of 21 Bn CRPF and the collaborating organisations for providing meaningful sporting opportunities to young athletes and encouraged the participants to pursue sports with dedication, discipline and perseverance.

The closing ceremony was graced by Shri Anil Kumar Briksh, Commandant, 21 Bn CRPF, as the Chief Guest. The ceremony was also attended by distinguished guests from the J&K Judo Association, including Mr. Gowher Khan and Mr. Ajmal, along with Ms. Kabra Altaf, Tournament Director, and Adv. Junaid Syed, Chairman, Saving the Future NGO.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Anil Kumar Briksh congratulated all the participating athletes and appreciated the dedication of the coaches, officials, schools, clubs and collaborating organisations. He emphasised the importance of sports in developing discipline, confidence, teamwork and a positive outlook among young people.

The event concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners and participating athletes. The organisers expressed their gratitude to all participating schools, clubs, coaches, officials, parents and young judokas for their enthusiastic participation and support.

The successful conduct of the two-day Judo Competition highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts in nurturing sporting talent, promoting a culture of fitness and discipline, and creating positive avenues of engagement between the security forces, civil society and the youth of Jammu & Kashmir.
