Literature and Devotion Converge at Kreeri

Kreeri, Sept 15 (JKNS): The Krohen Cultural Forum, Kreeri, in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Lubaab Publications, under the patronage of Adbi Markaz Kamraz, organised a day-long literary and cultural event at Government Higher Secondary School, Kreeri, on Sunday.

The event brought together prominent writers, poets, researchers, intellectuals, religious scholars and literature enthusiasts from different parts of the Valley.

The programme featured the release of two significant Kashmiri books, felicitation of noted journalist, writer and editor Dr Syed Jahangir Bukhari on being conferred an honorary doctorate, and a Naatia Mushaira.

The programme was moderated by Krohen Cultural Forum General Secretary Syed Sharief Hussain Qadri.

The first session was presided over by renowned Islamic scholar Maulana Shoukat Hussain Keng. The presidium included noted broadcaster Syed Basharat Bukhari, prominent writer and researcher Syed Sad-ud-Din Saidi, poet Noor-ud-Din Hosh, Adbi Markaz Kamraz President Muhammad Amin Butt, Krohen Cultural Forum President Syed Shamim Ahmad Shamim and Government Higher Secondary School Kreeri Principal Sheikh Abdul Rashid.
The two books released during the programme were “Seyaah Waawles Manz”, a collection of poetry by noted Kashmiri poet Noor-ud-Din Hosh, and “Kulyat-e-Qudoos Mir Qudsi”, an important literary and research work by noted writer and researcher Syed Sad-ud-Din Saidi.
Speakers described both publications as valuable additions to Kashmiri literature, saying that literary and research-based works of this nature enrich the contemporary literary landscape while providing future generations with valuable intellectual and cultural resources.
They emphasised the need for sustained efforts to preserve, promote and develop the Kashmiri language. The speakers said publication of new books, organisation of literary gatherings and encouragement of young writers were essential for ensuring a vibrant future for Kashmiri language and literature.
At the beginning of the programme, Dr Syed Jahangir Bukhari was specially felicitated for being conferred an honorary doctorate in recognition of his contributions to journalism, literature and social service. Speakers appreciated his long association with journalism and his contribution to literary and cultural activities in Kashmir.
They also highlighted the importance of encouraging individuals who contribute to journalism, literature and social causes, saying their work helps strengthen the intellectual and cultural environment of the region.
The second session was presided over by noted broadcaster Syed Basharat Bukhari. The presidium included Adbi Markaz Kamraz Secretary Shabnam Talghami, Syed Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Andrabi, Syed Sad-ud-Din Saidi and Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Wani.
The session witnessed detailed discussions on the present state of Kashmiri language and literature, the role and responsibilities of literary institutions, and the need to connect the younger generation with their language, cultural traditions and heritage.
Speakers said Kashmir possessed a rich literary tradition spanning centuries and stressed that publication of books, literary gatherings, Mushairas, research sessions and support for young writers should continue to safeguard and strengthen this heritage.
They appreciated the Krohen Cultural Forum for consistently organising literary and cultural programmes, saying such initiatives play an important role in promoting Kashmiri language and literature at the grassroots level.
