Budgam, September 15, : The Department of Youth Services & Sports (DYSS), Budgam, organised Inter-District Provincial-Level Taekwondo Competitions for Under-14, Under-17 and Under-19 girls at the Indoor Sports Stadium, Budgam, providing a vibrant platform for young athletes to showcase their skills, discipline, confidence and competitive spirit.
The competitions were formally inaugurated by Chief Planning Officer, Budgam, Javid Ahmad Najar, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. He interacted with the participating players and officials and encouraged the young sportspersons to pursue sports with dedication, discipline and determination.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the Department of Youth Services & Sports for providing meaningful sporting opportunities to children and youth at the grassroots level. He lauded the enthusiasm and sporting spirit displayed by the participating girls and urged them to continue working hard to excel in their respective disciplines.
Players from various districts of the province participated in the competitions with great enthusiasm, showcasing impressive Taekwondo techniques, sporting skills and commendable discipline. The event provided the young athletes with valuable exposure to high-level competition and an opportunity to gain experience alongside talented players from different districts.
DYSSO Budgam Jai Pal Singh, PELs, Physical Education staff and other concerned officials were present on the occasion and extended their support towards the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
The Department emphasised that such provincial-level competitions play an important role in identifying emerging sporting talent, strengthening the culture of sports and creating pathways for young athletes to excel at higher levels of competition.
