Baramulla , Sept 11 (JKNS): The Chinar Premier League (CPL) 2026 has expanded significantly this year, bringing together young cricketers from across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh in a major grassroots sporting initiative aimed at promoting youth participation, community engagement and sporting talent.

Organised with the support of the Indian Army in collaboration with the BCF, the tournament has grown from its earlier limited format into a larger multi district competition. The initiative is part of efforts to provide local youth with opportunities to participate in organised competitive sport and showcase their talent.

The 2026 edition covers all 10 districts of Kashmir and has also brought teams and players from Jammu, Leh and Ladakh into the competition, creating a common sporting platform for participants from different regions.

The league has witnessed substantial growth in participation, with 79 teams and around 1,600 young cricketers taking part. Matches are being conducted across seven venues in Kashmir and Leh, taking competitive cricket closer to players and spectators in different areas.

Beyond competition, the CPL provides young athletes with exposure to organised cricket, competitive match experience and opportunities to develop their sporting skills. The initiative also seeks to encourage greater interaction among youth from different districts and regions through sport.

The expansion of CPL 2026 reflects the growing popularity of cricket among local youth and highlights the role of community level sporting events in encouraging participation, talent development and social interaction across Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.(JKNS)
