Budgam, Sept 4 (JKNS): One terrorist was killed and an AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered during a joint operation by the Indian Army, J&K Police and CRPF in the Ashdar Gali area of Budgam, officials said on Friday.
The operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
The Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, in a post on X, as per news agency JKNS wrote, that a joint search operation was launched by the Army, J&K Police and CRPF in the general area of Ashdar Gali under Operation ASHDAR.
According to the Chinar Corps, vigilant troops observed suspicious activity during the operation and challenged the suspected terrorists, following which the terrorists opened fire.
The security forces retaliated, triggering a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist was neutralised, the Army said.
“During the exchange of gunfire, one terrorist was neutralised and one AK rifle along with other war-like stores were recovered,” the Chinar Corps said in its post.
The Army further said that the search operation is in progress in the area.
