An Income Tax Awareness Programme was organised by Income Tax Office, Udhampur in collaboration with Industrial Association at the Industrial Growth Centre, Lassipora, with the objective of creating awareness among industrialists, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders about various provisions of the New Income Tax Act 2025 and promoting voluntary tax compliance.
Smt. Monika Dhami, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. She was accompanied by Dr Ruveda Salam, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar; Asst. Commissioner, Circle Srinagar Smt. Sandhya Pratap and Sh. Vijay Choudhary, Income Tax Officer, Udhampur. Addressing the gathering, Smt. Dhami emphasised the importance of timely and accurate compliance with Income tax laws and highlighted the role of taxpayers in strengthening the country’s economic development. She encouraged members of the industrial community to make full use of the facilities and services provided by the Income Tax Department and to seek professional guidance wherever required.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from taxpayers and Industrial unit holders of Industrial Growth Centre Lassipora, and More than 100 representatives from various trade and professional bodies gathered here including the Bar Association, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Cold Storage Association Lassipora among others.

On the occasion, a presentation on New Income Tax, Act 2025 was given by Sh. Vijay Choudhary, Income Tax Officer, Udhampur followed by a presentation on new TDS provisions by Smt. Sandhya Pratap, Asst. Commissioner of Income Tax, Circle Srinagar. Dr.Ruveda Salam, Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, Srinagar highlighted that such programmes provided an interactive platform for the participants to understand various aspects of income tax compliance.

The participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their interest in continued awareness and outreach programmes on taxation and related matters. Mukhtar Ahmad Khan, President of the Industrial Growth Centre Lassipora, delivered the welcome address and felicitated the Pr.Commissioner of Income Tax whereas Cold Store Association was represented by Sh. Bashir Naik.

The Income Tax Department reiterated its commitment to facilitating taxpayers, strengthening taxpayer services and promoting a culture of voluntary compliance and transparent tax administration.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, departmental officials and all the participants for their valuable presence and active participation.
