Srinagar, Sept 1 (JKNS): The rulling Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Tuesday announced that it will peacefully gherao BJP headquarters in Srinagar and Jammu on Wednesday, demanding accountability from the Union Government over commitments made in Parliament and before the Supreme Court of India.
In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, JKNC said its demands include constitutional guarantees, restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, clearance of the reservation file and justice for the people of J&K.
The party said the mandate given by the people of Jammu and Kashmir “is not a blank cheque” and must be respected rather than taken for granted.
In Srinagar, the protest is scheduled to begin at 10:00 am at Gindun Park, near Police Station Rajbagh, according to the party.
The JKNC said similar peaceful protests will also be held in Jammu. (JKNS)
