Baramulla, Aug 18 (JKNS): The Girls Volleyball Tournament 2026 was inaugurated today at the Indoor Stadium Baramulla, organised by the 53 Battalion CRPF Baramulla in collaboration with Government Degree College Baramulla.
The tournament was inaugurated by Prof. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, along with Indrani Dutta, 2IC 53 Battalion CRPF, and Omendra Poonia, 2IC 53 Battalion CRPF.
On the occasion, Benjamin Seb, CMO 53 Battalion CRPF; Akash Suman, Assistant Commandant 53 Battalion; Rajesh Yadav, Assistant Commandant 35 Battalion; and Rajesh Tiwari, Assistant Commandant 53 Battalion, were also present.
Officials from the Sports Department, along with players from all eight participating teams, attended the inaugural ceremony.
The first match of the tournament was played between GCW Nawakadal Srinagar and GDC Sopore.
The tournament is being organised under the Civic Action Programme of the CRPF and features participation from eight teams: GCW Nawakadal Srinagar, GDC Sopore, GDC Baramulla, GDC Pampore, GDC Budgam, GCW Baramulla, GCW Sopore, and GDC Hadipora.
The tournament is being conducted on a knockout basis, providing young female volleyball players with an opportunity to showcase their talent while promoting sports, teamwork and healthy competition among students. (JKNS)
